Mark Hatfield
Mark Hatfield’s path to painting began in a house filled with music. Born into a family of accomplished musicians, he grew up surrounded by rhythm, tone, and structure—but instead of following that same musical route, he translated those early experiences into a visual language of his own. What emerged was a kind of personal “soundscape” on canvas, shaped not by instruments, but by color, movement, and intuition.
For Mark, painting is a way to distill lived experience into something shared. His work seeks to capture fleeting moments of emotion and clarity—small raptures that hold ideas and feelings at once—and offer them to the viewer as a point of connection. Each piece becomes both deeply personal and quietly communal, inviting others into the emotional space where it was first formed.
Based in Maryland, Hatfield has built an international presence through his work. His paintings are held in significant private collections across North America, including in Los Angeles, Manhattan, and Greenwich, Connecticut, as well as abroad in Austria, Spain, France, and Italy. His work has also been featured in Architectural Digest Italia and Ville & Casali, in collaboration with renowned Roman architect Stefano Dorata, further extending his visual language into the world of contemporary design and architecture.
