"LOW BROW / Pop Surrealism"                               on view  through  November 7th                               Art Social: October 3rd, 5:00-8:00

JL Shorr Gallery invites you to step outside the expected with LOW BROW / Pop Surrealism, a new exhibition exploring contemporary artwork influenced by the bold visual language and unconventional spirit of the Lowbrow movement.

Born from underground illustration, comics, hot-rod culture, street art, and popular imagery, Lowbrow art challenged the boundaries between fine art and the everyday. This exhibition brings together artists whose work shares that visual energy—playful, surreal, unexpected, highly detailed, and sometimes just a little strange.

Rather than presenting a strict definition of Lowbrow, LOW BROW / Pop Surrealism explores the ways its influence continues to appear in contemporary art. Familiar imagery is transformed. Ordinary subjects become surreal. Humor and beauty can exist alongside the unsettling, the bizarre, and the unexpected.
