Jim Mariano (Jas) is a multimedia artist, animator and illustrator. He was raised on a steady diet of monster movies, Three Stooges, and Tex Avery cartoons -- three influences whose humor permeates his work. Aside from his award winning animation his artwork has been exhibited nationwide. You or your children may have also seen some of his illustrations in textbooks from Pearson or McGraw-Hill.

His acrylic paintings explore characters and iconography of the cartoons he watched as a child and how they reflect on philosophical concepts. Combining humor with the writings of Nietzsche, Camus, Kerouac and others these cartoon paintings explore themes of time, growth, resilience, death, and the path less traveled.
